School Inclusion
Maharat Learning Center supports the inclusion of students with special educational needs, cognitive disorders, development delays and learning difficulties in mainstreams schools. We can provide students with ABA-trained school shadows and paraeducators, assist teachers in developing comprehensive and holistic Individualized Education Plans(IEPs) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs), and provide monthly supervision in the school to ensure students are included successfully.
Our Services
ABA-trained Learning Support Assistants
We provide highly competent Learning Support Assistants who have received comprehensive training in Behaviour Management using principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Skill Building and IEP Implementation.
Our LSA will work with your child, identifying when lesson modifications are required so that they may fully grasp the curriculum and/or IEP and thrive in mainstream education. By recognizing your child’s preferred learning methods, the LSA will encourage academic participation and socialization to make the school day as productive as possible.
Our LSAs will endeavour to gradually reduce support using strategic prompting and fading techniques to foster self-learning, confidence, and independence. All our team members are supervised by Case Managers/Supervisors to ensure the highest standards of service provision through performance reviews and continued professional development trainings.
School Consultations
School consultations focus on skill development and management of challenging behaviour to ensure the successful inclusion of children in mainstream education. When maladaptive behavior interferes with learning, our Supervisor/BCBA will carry out a functional behavior assessment and prepare a behavior plan for the teachers. Our team may also go into the classroom and coach the teacher and other classroom staff how to effectively implement the behavior plan. We also provide curriculum modifications as needed.
When required, we will develop a schedule and/or reinforcement system for your child and will model effective implementation for the teacher / learning support assistant.
School Transition Programs
When it comes time for children to transition from ABA to school, it is essential to have a plan in place to facilitate the transition and make it as smooth as possible for everyone involved. Transition planning should cover three areas of need: the student’s physical, social/emotional, and learning needs. We can attend any preparatory meetings requested by the parent/school and provide support with the transition plan to help your child, family, and the school. Once the school/curriculum is determined, your child should be prepared, and it is strongly recommended that they be progressively acclimated to classroom/group teaching before the commencement of school. This may include a variety of methods, but some of the most common are having your child visit the school, getting them comfortable with wearing a school uniform, and sharing stories, photos, and books about going to school.
Dyslexia & Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD) Tutoring
Learning Difficulties may affect as 1 in every 10 people. Early identification, diagnosis and support are crucial to ensure that children and young people learn to manage well, without disadvantage, and reach their potential as they grow. At Maharat Learning Center, we understand that every child or young adult is unique. We are dedicated to identifying and supporting those with Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties (such as Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, ADHD etc.). We will develop an intervention program based on your child’s individual areas of difference. We take into consideration your child’s learning style as well as their environmental preferences and build a tailored program around your child.
We use the latest technology including applications that are researched and proven to be effective so that your child can practice goals in between intervention sessions. This ensures that skills developed in sessions are maintained and reinforced.
Behavior Support Plan (BSP) & Individual Education Plan (IEP) Development & Training
We can provide support in creating the best strategy for addressing any behavioral, academic, or social issues in the school environment through school observations, meetings with teachers, and collaboration with other school professionals.
We offer trainings and consultations in the development and implementation of IEPs and/or BSPs with the required prompts and reinforcers to promote socialization and academic achievement.

We provide a variety of professional trainings for teachers, learning support assistants and special educators to ensure the successful inclusion of children in mainstream education. Our professional courses include Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT), Learning Support Training, Inclusive Education for Teachers, Behavioral Management and The Use of Technology in Learning and Communication.
