Child Safeguarding and Ethical Practice

The aim of this workshop is to outline best practice related to safeguarding children and ethical dilemmas. Professionals have a moral and legal obligation to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young adults in their care, and are responsible to make informed decisions and take appropriate action when faced with specific child protection issues. The workshop will cover topics including the importance of safeguarding principles, signs and symptoms to recognize abuse and the reporting process, promoting good practices and identifying poor practices, approaches to ethical decision-making and discusses common practice dilemmas, including confidentiality and informed consent, client rights and equality.
